More of the ugly…

March 28, 2008

Apologies, but I have been standing at death’s doorstep for more than a week and I’ve only just taken one step back from the brink 😦

If you’re interested in the rest of the horror, please proceed…

To the left is my kitchen and the large window overlooks my garden.  I never got around to making two panels to cover this window, so the single panel remains shut most of the time.  I need all the light I can get in my flat but open curtains will also let in the view of my neglected garden.

Couch and door to the garden on the left.

I have always wanted fish then someone gave me a 55 gallon aquarium.  Cheap-ass that I am has allowed this monster to dominate the room, steal valuable floor space and compels my guests to go pee as soon as they enter the house (sound of running water, ya know.  this beast is LOUD even with a pricey filter)

Even though it’s small, has practically no countertops and you’re looking at all the storage space, I enjoy cooking in this kitchen.

It will be a sunnier, brighter version of the livingroom color.  I am also going to try a paste wax to darken the cabinets and give them more depth.  Faux butcher-block countertops and crappy appliances are staying.  Oh, the lot of a renter…

My washing machine at the end of the kitchen obstructs traffic and causes many contusions (thanks to it’s broken off control dial).  Even so, that far outweighs trips to the laundromat.

There is a small covered area right below the kitchen window where I plan to relocate the washer.

To the immediate left of the washer is my daughter’s room, and to the right, down a short hall is my room.  It’s just as well that the path is obstructed.  No one in their right mind would want to go there any way 😉
