27 hours and 50 minutes from now…

June 6, 2008

… Haley’s friends will be arriving for the Big Slumber/Birthday Party.

(God help me)

I’m feeling pretty good about the condition of the house.  I just need to vacuum, dust, do some dishes and clean the bathroom.  I like my little house because all that will take half an hour, tops.  I do also need to run to the grocery store and to the party supply store.

The food part is easy.  Now I am realizing that I only have a few things planned!  ACK!

So this is what I’ve got so far:

  1. Arrive, put down stuff, giggle, show then where the bathroom is, giggle some more.
  2. I am going to be that mom and sit the girls down and have a quick refresher on being nice to each other and having fun, not warfare.  (One of the 3 friends has stayed over a few times and it’s full tilt hearts-n-flowers or Clash of the Titans the whole time.  The other two seem much less prone to discord, but I can’t just lecture the two delinquents and not the other two.)
  3. I’ll give them a few minutes to do some more girly giggling, then I’ll get them in to Activity #1.  Pillow cases + fabric paint = a fabulous souvenir!  (not like some crappy cheap-ass toy from China town, or some equally crappy candy)
  4. When they are done with that I’ll move them in to the kitchen where I will have a make-your-own pizza bar set up.  They can pick their own toppings, put them on a Boboli, make a little mess and have a little fun.
  5. While the pizzas are cooking/cooling I’ll heat-set the fabric paint with the iron, and they can do some more giggling until it’s time to eat.
  6. After dinner and cake (cake!!!!!) they can put on their jammies, brush their teeth, arrange their beds, and then….

And then I got nothin’. 😦

Movie? Games?  I know part of the fun is NOT having your lame mom hang around, but I also think that the more things they are engaged in, the less likely a meltdown will occur.

** what do you think? **

Rachel is coming around 7 or 7:30 (and she’s bringing vino 😀 )

  1. Questions…
    1. Who cleans up after the painting?
    2. Who, exactly, is the vino for?
    3. Was I a lame mom???

Hope you all have a girl-wonderful time! I will be thinking of you. Wish I was there!
Kiss the Birthday Girl for me, but NOT when anyone is watching!

    Have fun!!

  2. 1. I do.

    2. Me.

(wow, I’m making this all about me 😛 )

    3. You weren’t a lame mom, but you’re getting close now by asking me that!

But really? Should I try to keep them busy? Or, notsomuch?

  3. Keep them busy.

    Use joox.net for movies (free)

I can bring a projector by and you can put the movies up on a wall

Other than that, I’m useless on the girly stuff… that’s all you.

  4. You did a GREAT job “Mom”!
