Ceiling medallion-ish ideas

July 1, 2008

So… I am trying to think of something similar to a ceiling medallion – an object decor that will cover up the cheap and off-centered light fixture in my bedroom.  This “thing” needs to be about 2′-3′ wide to create the symmetry that I’m going for; and it should be at least 3″ deep so the heinous thing is entirely obscured.

It could be huge and round…

Or it can be oval…

Or maybe an inverted tray ceiling?  Instead of being recessed, frame out a simple box to hide that horrid thing?

And if so, how do I paint it?  Inverse of this, too, with it lighter than the ceiling?

If you’ve got any better ideas – or any other ideas AT ALL – I welcome them.  In fact, I would be ever so appreciative of them!
