People actually enjoy shopping?
July 2, 2008GAH – Not me!
I cannot, for the life of me, understand how people spend their free time shopping, how they are perfectly happy to wander stores for hours on end.
It gives me panic attacks. I’m not playin’!
Twice this week I have gone shopping at lunch, desperate for big steps toward the completion of my apartment. I think my problem is the crystal clear design vision I have in my head. My shoestring budget doesn’t really even exacerbate the problem. I can’t find what I want, much less at a bargain price.
The gravity of this situation is bearing down on me and I’ve already made one “good enough” purchase (bedding). So at lunch today I went to Anna’s Linens because there’s some good, cheap schwag there, fully prepared for more “good enough” choices. Standing there contemplating which things would marginalize my vision the least, and is it a good enough deal to compromise for, nearly gave me a panic attack. Of course, there were at least 4 different duvets that I would have been happy with there so not only did I fail to make big steps forward in this project, I wound myself up like the Tasmanian Devil and I am totally second guessing a purchase I’ve already made and thought was behind me.
If I were to grasp for an upside to all this it would be that I am actually fashion-forward in my design scheme. Gray is just coming in to style. And that’s why it’s so freakin’ hard to find.
