Design on 1/10th of a Dime

August 5, 2008

Many of my little projects start with the same inspiration:  I should be able to do that!  Who needs creativity, skills, materials, or proper tools?!?  I don’t let those minor details prevent me from giving my hair-brained ideas a whirl.

I wanted to just see if I could festoon myself one of those nifty decals that are quickly becoming overused trendy flash-in-the-pan design cliches.  I’ve got some contact paper and some scissors… why not? Creativity, skills, materials, and proper tools certainly would have come in handy, but I have none of those things and this is what came of it.

Sure, a fleur de lys or some flowers would have been much fancier but “rustic” (read: looking like a 5 year old cut it) boxes is about as much creativity as I can muster in 15 minutes while sprawled on the livingroom floor staring at a wrinkled remnant of contact paper pulled from the bowels of my toolbox.

I’m relatively ok with this effort and I’m happy to live with it for a while to find out if it will hang in there.  *ahem* Yay!  Now I can delude my self into thinking that this “test” will someday soon be replaced with something that is a perfect manifestation of the creative genius that lives within me!

Yes, I am taking bets on if this will still be there the day I move out 😛
