More proof I was born behind my time

September 30, 2008

So, back in the day (1900 to about 1940) Sears sold houses – entire houses – in their catalog:  floorplan and all construction materials included.

I’d gladly take either of these beauts, nestled in the hills and trees of my vast Kentucky tract.  How me:  all grandiose Southern plantation-y on the outside; sleek and modern on the inside.

Riiiiiight 😉

Bedrooms are a little tight in the lovely Magnolia, so I’d blow out a wall to create a Master Kid-Free Zone Suite.

  1. Looks like a great house there HC! Also very good alteration plans 😀

  2. That Magnolia is quickly becoming my obssession. Did you see it has a SLEEPING PORCH?? A sleeping porch!! That’s just brilliant!

  3. Forgive my ignorance Emily, but what’s a sleeping porch?

  4. Before they had air conditioning they had sleeping porches so you could sleep in the night air and be screened from the bugs.

Aahhh… that sounds so awesome 😀

  5. It really does sound awesome! They must’ve thought of everything back then.

  6. Everything but air conditioning! HA!
