In celebration of sloth

November 10, 2008

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend!  Mine started off with a bang (out dancing until O’Dark Ugly), then quickly segued in to pure laziness.

I really can’t underscore clearly enough how much sleep I was NOT getting the last few weeks.  When I have things on my mind (Palin one old man away from the Big Red Button) I usually spend time mulling it around my brain instead of sleeping.  I probably should look in to that “exercise” thing.  I hear it’s a big help for sleep-tortured folks such as myself.

I have some evidence that this “exercise” phenomenon would help my chronic insomnia.  Friday night after dinner and drinks in the East Bay I headed out to cut a rug with my friend Steve B.  We danced for a good 3+ hours and laughed our asses off most of the time thanks to some interesting propositions we received, separately and together 😛 Hey, we were at the Endup, whaddaya expect?  Also, did I mention our dancing was started off with a rapid succession of strong drinks and shots?  Um, yeah.  I was done drinking within 15 minutes of our arrival.  Yikes.

So after drinking/dancing/laughing we stopped and picked up some slices and headed back to his house to watch some shows.  I fell asleep on the couch after 1/2 a slice, pizza box on my chest.  Oooh, pretty 😉 I woke up at 11:30a all covered up in a blankie and relatively well rested.

Once I got home I pretty much slept the rest of the weekend.  I also caught up on my DVR backlog.  Doing this I learned that I have really weird taste in shows.  They are pretty much either graphic, intense, vulgar or all of the above!

  • CSI:  any of them, though Miami is my least favorite
  • Law & Order:  any of them, but I do have a crush on Vincent DiNofrio because he’s a creepy freak
  • BBC Shows:  anything with Gordon Ramsay, Skins (WTF is going on with that show??  I don’t know, but I am addicted), the Graham Norton Show, How Not to Decorate
  • Mad Men (my dreams are always dreamy after a dose of Don Draper)
  • Reality Contest Shows that require a skill:  Top Chef (new season starts Wednesday!), Project Runway, America’s Next Top Model (shut up), So You Think You Can Dance (possibly the best show ever created)

So, after my bit of exercise (and booze) I spent the whole weekend laying about doing little more than clearing my DVR between naps.

Yay for me!

  1. Gee, in my younger SINGLE years, I remember doing the same thing! Maybe you can catch up on a little more rest when you are here! Yeah, right!

  2. Single? (In all caps no less)

    Ouch, Mother. Ouch.

  3. an ideal weekend indeed!

  4. Sounds like an ace weekend. Very good choice of TV shows as well!

  5. Single, as in between husbands…hehe

  6. Chris – does “Skins” mean something? Is it a British-ism or just a random name? Either way that show’s a trip. They’d never have such story lines on a show here!

  7. As far as I know ‘skins’ isn’t a colloquial term though it could be a southern thing…

Then again I think it could be a drugs reference about the paper that’s used when people use roll up fags/joints?

You’re right about the show being a bit trippy. Never been a fan of the producer’s other work (Shameless.. etc).
