Instead of Seasons Greetings it’s kicking my ass

December 4, 2008

Yesterday I was consumed with the annual fiasco that is the creation of our holiday spam greeting card at work.  When I interviewed here I *ahem* up-sold my skills a bit on the Photoshop front.  Then, when I saw what my predecessors had created, I just knew I could blow them away with something light years ahead of what had been done before.

I totally pulled it off last year.  TOTALLY.  I even impressed myself with my hastily acquired (though tragically inconsistent) skills.  Now I need to get the greeting out for this year and, unfortunately, the bar has been set uncomfortably high.  I have to do something NEW and DIFFERENT and UPLIFTING (because the economy is in the crapper and we are in the investment biz).

ACK!

So this is what I have so far…  inside the snow globes are the big deal properties we did this year.  I need to label them (I’m thinking a brass tag on each base); and I need to – well – put a greeting on there, too 😛 That’s easy – I put that on my boss’ plate since it’s really his sentiment we should be conveying.

But it looks desperately…. lacking

Red and blue are our company colors, so that’s the logic behind those choices, but if you have any input I would totally appreciate ANY HELP because this is kicking my ass.

What is very likely to happen is that I’ll put my blood, sweat and tears in to this thing, circulate the draft for comment, and end up doing something entirely different!  That is the story of my working life… 😛

  1. So my very first thought will NOT work, but it made me laugh. I was thinking, hmm, sticking with red and blues, warm, holiday, uplifting, how ’bout a crackling yule log burning in the back. Yeah, big tongues of fire licking all those new investments, wait, wait. Shoot. Not a good idea.

  2. overall I think it looks very good.

One aspect in the shading/shadows is that even where the light is hitting the glass, there is a shadow behind it.
